As they get ready to bury him, the family of renowned reggae and dancehall hypeman John Maina, better known by his stage name MC Fullstop, has made a sincere plea to the public for financial support.
The family of the iconic comedian, who provided “light, laughter, and unforgettable energy” to everyone around him, expressed their profound sadness at his departure in an official statement issued over the weekend.
MC Fullstop died on Friday, August 1, 2025, after a protracted fight with tuberculosis that had negatively impacted his throat and lungs.
Fans, friends, and well-wishers are now being asked to help the family through this trying time by making a donation to the official MC Fullstop Funeral Fund.
The family has advised the public not to send money to any other numbers and has established a verified Till Number (6624502) to accept donations.
A portion of the statement states, “Any donation, regardless of size, is greatly appreciated and will be used directly for funeral arrangements and family support.”
In recent years, MC Fullstop had been open about his health issues.
He disclosed in 2021 that he had been diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB), which had caused serious lung damage. He suffered another setback in 2022 after being diagnosed with tuberculosis of the throat, which affected his speech and performance. This was a devastating blow for a man whose voice had come to represent Kenyan reggae culture.
MC Fullstop was a mainstay of the entertainment business until his passing. He was a major player in Nairobi’s reggae scene and a weekend television staple, known for his fierce energy and distinctive voice.
He achieved legendary status in Kenyan show business thanks to his love of music, commitment to his art, and sincere affection for his followers.
He was considered a legend by many. He was family to us,” the family remarked. “A passionate, modest, and kind man whose love for his people was greater than his love for his craft.”
As the family continues to deal with the loss of one of their own, they have committed to making memorial and funeral announcements when the time is right.
They have also expressed gratitude to fans for their steadfast love and support over the years and encouraged everyone to continue celebrating the colorful legacy that MC Fullstop leaves behind in remembrance of him.
