Dua Lipa, a singer, is granted Kosovo citizenship
Born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents, the Levitating singer was honored by Kosovar President Vjosa Osmani on Thursday, accompanied by a children’s chorus.
“Welcome back home, Dua,” the politician wrote on the social media platform X.
Kosovo has always been inextricably linked to Dua. With courage, dignity, and grace, she has shared our story on the grandest platforms in the world and in the hearts of millions of people. She has made history, pushed limits, and served as a reminder to the world that greatness starts with understanding oneself and one’s origins.
Bajram Begaj, the president of Albania, called the 29-year-old music artist a “simple girl” who has brought “great pride” to the country when she was granted Albanian citizenship in 2022.
During the ceremony, he stated: “We are especially pleased to host the legendary musician Dua Lipa today. She is a humble kid who has brought the greatest pride to Albania, Kosovo, and all Albanians worldwide, but she is also a brilliant artist, in my opinion. You have demonstrated that aspirations may come true by putting in more effort, and Albanian youngsters serve as an inspiration and role model. The combined meeting of the Albanian and Kosovoan assemblies was held today, and tomorrow we commemorate the 110th anniversary of the proclamation of independence.

After months of speculation, Dua finally announced in June that she and her actor partner Callum Turner were engaged. This came after she posted a picture of herself wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger on Instagram last Christmas.
The Houdini hitmaker confirmed that they were engaged to British magazine Vogue. It is so thrilling.
Dua went on to say, “I’m obsessed with my ring.” That’s exactly me. Knowing that the person you will live with for the rest of your life understands you well is pleasant.
The couple began dating in January 2024, but due to their busy work schedules, they have not yet decided on a wedding date.
