Rymir Satterthwaite, following years of legal battles, drops his paternity lawsuit against Jay-Z
The man who claimed Jay-Z was his father is backing off after more than ten years of court filings, but there are still many unanswered concerns.
Following almost ten years of court battles, Rymir Satterthwaite has formally withdrawn his claim that Jay-Z is his father. The rap mogul allegedly had a relationship with his late mother, Wanda, in the early 1990s, according to Satterthwaite, who has been following the issue since 2010.
Us Weekly claims that Jay-Z’s legal team has been fighting these allegations for years, claiming they are unfounded and characterizing the series of lawsuits as harassment. Due to Pennsylvania’s statute of limitations, jurisdictional concerns, and a lack of proof, the courts have repeatedly rejected Satterthwaite’s submissions. Satterthwaite even received an injunction in 2022 for making what the judge considered “frivolous” and excessive filings.
Jay-Z has never taken a DNA test and has continuously refuted the paternity allegations. Satterthwaite’s attorneys bring up the fact that a court-mandated DNA test had ruled out another guy, Robert Graves. His attempts to bring the case against Jay-Z were complicated, though, since Satterthwaite’s paternity was formally confirmed for another man in a different court case, and the guy was required to pay child support in the 1990s.
With Satterthwaite’s decision to abandon the complaint, a protracted legal battle that has surrounded Jay-Z for almost 15 years comes to a close. Throughout this time, judges have always sided with the rapper because of procedural and evidentiary obstacles.
