Palestinian officials claim that 80 of the more than 100 people who die from hunger in Gaza are children

At least 101 people, mostly children, have died of hunger in Gaza during the war, mostly in the last few weeks.

In the past few weeks, Palestinian officials say that hunger has killed more than 100 people in Gaza, including 80 children.

Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the UN, said that hunger is getting worse and “starvation is knocking on every door” in Gaza. He called the situation a “horror show.”

Israel controls all the goods that come into Gaza and has said that it is not to blame for the lack of food. In the Palestinian territory, some food supplies have run out since Israel cut off all supplies in March. In May, Israel lifted the blockade, saying that new steps were needed to stop help from going to militant groups.

Jerusalem says the UN is to blame because it doesn’t protect help that it says is stolen by Hamas and other groups. The fighters say they didn’t take it.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) says that all of its aid supplies are gone in Gaza and that some of its employees are going hungry. The group blames Israel for stopping its work.

“We’ve given out our last tent, food package, and other relief items.” “There is nothing left,” said Jan Egeland, who is in charge of running the council.

The NRC said that it has not been possible to get hundreds of truckloads of blankets, water, toilets, food, and school supplies into Gaza for the past 145 days.

The Israeli military aid coordination agency COGAT and the Israeli government did not reply right away to a request for comment. Israel claims that it is stopping aid from getting to Gaza.

The head of the UN Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) said earlier that doctors and aid workers have been passing out on the job because they are hungry and tired. The NRC’s words back up what the head of UNRWA said.

“Caregivers, like my coworkers at UNRWA in Gaza, also need care right now.” Doctors, nurses, reporters, and people who help others are some of them. Staff at UNRWA are hungry. “Many are passing out because they are hungry and tired while doing their jobs,” said Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner general of UNRWA.

He said that trying to get food is now “as deadly as the bombs” and called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s plan to give out help a “sadistic death trap.”

It’s not fair for criminals to help people in need, so this can’t become the new normal, he said.

The present model for sending aid, which is backed by both the Israeli and American governments, has been criticized by the UK and several other countries. It is said that Israeli troops have shot at Palestinian civilians looking for food more than once.

In the past few weeks, more than 800 people have died trying to get food. Most of them were shot by Israeli forces stationed near distribution centers.
