Get out of here, Kendrick Lamar! Drake is currently the rapper with the most Spotify listeners per month
Drake and Kendrick Lamar are still at odds, but Drake has just surpassed Lamar in terms of monthly Spotify listens.
Currently, the One Dance hitmaker has 80.65 million more listeners than his arch-enemy K Dot, making him the most popular rap artist on the streaming service.
According to an X post by Chart Data, Drake is currently the rapper with the most Spotify listeners each month.
“He outperforms Kendrick Lamar.”
Drake was the main act for three nights at the Wireless Festival in London over the weekend, which caused his streams to soar.
At the moment, Lamar and SZA are traveling together on their Grand National Tour.
Drake, who recently became the first artist to reach 110 billion Spotify plays, and Kendrick Lamar’s verbal sparring heated up last year after Lamar’s shocking line on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That.” After that, he branded Drake a “certified pedophile (sic)” in Not Like Us, an accusation he has refuted.
Push Ups and The Heart Part 6, the latter of which was a direct response to Not Like Us, were two more songs that Drake responded to.
He earlier pledged “round two” in his fight with Lamar, who carried it all the way to the February Super Bowl halftime show.
At the sporting event, K Dot gently targeted his competitor by performing a censored version of his Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” which broke records. He also invited SZA to sing their songs, “All the Lights” and “Lubert.”
“You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship,” Lamar said to his announcement of his Super Bowl appearance. Avoid round twos.
Drake has filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), their record company, alleging defamation and promoting Not Like Us through the use of bots and pay-to-play methods.
He eventually retracted his lawsuit against the UMG and Spotify, but not before accusing the company of exaggerating the song’s streams.
Drake only proceeded to the pre-action filing stage before opting to back out.
