Ole Werner is named the new head coach by RB Leipzig

Ole Werner, a 37-year-old German, has been formally appointed as RB Leipzig’s next head coach. He has signed a deal that will last until 2027. In order to release Werner from his contract with Werder Bremen, where he had been in charge since November 2021, the club paid €1.5 million.

Ole Werner guided Bremen to steady performances in 128 competitive games, bringing the 2024–25 Bundesliga season to a close eighth-place finish tied with Leipzig.

Werner comes with a reputation for playing progressive football and maintaining tactical discipline. “From the very first discussions, we felt a real convergence of views on the game and the work,” said the coach, who is admired by Jürgen Klopp, about this new chapter. My decision was made simple by it. Werner is expected to guide RB Leipzig back into the top four of the Bundesliga and guarantee them a spot in the Champions League on a regular basis.
