RwandAir halts flights to Dubai’s Doha

RwandAir said on Monday, June 23, that it had stopped flying to Doha, which is the capital of Qatar. This was because the Gulf country temporarily closed its airspace because it was worried that the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the US could threaten the security of the region.

Because of the same event, the national carrier has also stopped flights to and from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is in the Gulf area, like Qatar.

The company said in a statement, “Because Qatar’s airspace was closed, our flights WB300 and WB303 to and from Doha on June 23 and 24, 2025, have been canceled.”

“Flights to and from Dubai have also been canceled for the safety of our passengers and crew as the situation changes.”

RwandAir said that people whose plans will be changed by the changes can change when they buy their tickets.

The most busy airport in the Middle East is in Doha. It is called Hamad International Airport.

In a statement released Monday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the airspace was closed to protect people who live in, visit, or work in the foreign city.

The US State Department told US citizens traveling abroad to “exercise increased caution” after the US bombed three nuclear sites in Iran on Saturday. This led to the decision. Iran has said it will fight back.

The US-run Coalition Air Operations Center at Al-Udaid in Qatar was said to be in danger by the news.

Qatar said, “The safety and security of all people on Qatari soil remains a top priority, and the State will not hesitate to take all necessary preventative and protective measures in this regard.”

Dubai is one of RwandAir’s biggest routes, and the company has had a daily flight there for years.
