A Georgia couple wins $2.5 million after an autopsy video was posted online and the baby was decapitated during delivery

The jury finds in favor of the parents in a horrifying case involving a doctor’s unapproved social media post.

A Georgia couple’s terrible childbirth spiraled into an unimaginable legal nightmare, and a jury has given them about $2.5 million.

The first child of Jessica Ross was born on July 10, 2023. She said that the baby got stuck behind her pelvic bone after spending hours in the delivery room. The worst worry of all parents was what came next. The newborn’s head was severed from its body during the obstetrician’s attempt to deliver the baby, according to court documents. This is a horrific and tragic outcome of claimed medical malpractice.

However, the misery didn’t stop there.

The couple claims that in a startling turn of events, the same doctor posted a video of the baby’s autopsy on social media without getting their consent. Their already severe trauma was made worse by the purported invasion of their privacy.

A jury decided in favor of the parents, Jessica Ross and Treveon Isaiah Taylor Sr., this week, giving them a settlement of about $2.5 million. The settlement was expressly linked to the autopsy video’s unlawful release, not the initial medical misconduct, which is the focus of a different litigation.

According to the couple’s legal team, justice and fundamental human decency are at the center of the dispute, not just money. No family should ever have to deal with the appalling behavior that was revealed throughout the trial.
