Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first artist in Sub-Saharan Africa to exceed 10 million subscribers on YouTube, which has earned him the esteemed Diamond Creator Award.
The “Jeje” hitmaker was honored with a rare accolade during a recent visit to YouTube Headquarters in the United States, where he was acknowledged for this significant digital achievement.
The Diamond Play Button, a dazzling silver-and-crystal plaque unveiled at VidCon in 2015, is presented to creators who achieve or surpass 10 million subscribers.

In a celebration of the achievement, Diamond’s record label WCB Wasafi announced the news to fans, praising him as:
“Africa’s King of numbers has reached a remarkable milestone Diamond Platnumz is the first African artist to achieve 10 million subscribers on YouTube (Sub-Saharan country).”
Diamond Platnumz, born Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, initiated his YouTube channel on June 12, 2011.
By June 2025, the channel has amassed over 10.1 million subscribers, featuring more than 1,200 videos and achieving a total of 3 billion views — highlighting his lasting appeal and steady production throughout the years.
