“A Breath of Fresh Air”: FG’s Tech Applauds the National Impact of the $20 billion Dangote Refinery

Dangote Refinery has been hailed by the Federal Government’s Naira-for-crude committee as a representation of Nigeria’s industrial and economic recovery.

The $20 billion Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has been praised by the federal government’s Technical Committee on the One-Stop Shop (OSS) for the Naira-for-Crude project, which calls it a representation of Nigeria’s industrial renaissance.

According to the committee, Nigeria’s economic emancipation was being propelled by the world’s largest single train refinery, which is owned by Aliko Dangote. According to the report, the facility was a welcome change that was having an effect on almost every area of the economy.

The OSS Technical Committee Coordinator, Mrs. Maureen Ogbonna, provided the praise on Tuesday when she escorted the group on a tour of the facility, according to a statement released by Dangote Group on Thursday.

“This refinery touches all our lives,” said Ogbonna. Almost every sector is impacted. This project is revolutionary in the fields of polymers, food, construction, and pharmaceuticals.

“God has liberated Nigeria through the Dangote Group President. This is the start of an industrial revolution, in my opinion.

Ogbonna stated that the committee was dedicated to removing operational, logistical, and regulatory obstacles that impeded the seamless supply and sale of domestic crude oil and refined products in naira, in keeping with President Bola Tinubu’s goal of attaining complete domestic sufficiency in petroleum products and establishing Nigeria as a significant international exporter.

Ogbonna, who had visited the facility both during construction and more recently with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) leadership, reflected on the facility’s size and sophistication and expressed satisfaction with its implementation.

“It is absolutely astounding that a single man could design and carry out such a project,” she remarked. We believed we had seen everything during our tour of the refinery until we arrived at the laboratory. The lab is an institution in and of itself. I’m not aware of any organization in Nigeria or even the world that has a petrochemical laboratory like that.

Ogbonna stressed that the project is a worldwide accomplishment rather than a private endeavor, and he urged Dangote to stay focused and unfazed by critics.

“We feel incredibly honored to have been welcomed by the Dangote Group President and his team,” she said. I would advise him to not let the opinions of others deter him. He never put himself first. He was motivated by a vision for Nigeria’s future that extended well beyond Africa, notwithstanding the challenges.

Aliko Dangote, the refinery’s founder and the richest man in Africa, responded by praising the technical committee for helping to carry out Tinubu’s admirable Naira-for-Crude program.

He praised the naira-for-crude exchange deal’s beneficial effects on the Nigerian economy, stating that it had, among other things, reduced the cost of petroleum products, relieved pressure on the dollar, and guaranteed the stability of the local currency.

However, Dangote expressed dissatisfaction at the refinery’s increased reliance on U.S. imports to meet its needs in recent months due to a lack of domestic crude oil.

The construction of the refinery necessitates the creation of substantial infrastructure, including world-class, self-sufficient marine facilities that can accommodate the largest vessels internationally. Dangote emphasized the need of aggressive investment in crucial industries as the path to industrialization.

He gave the committee his word that the refinery will support the advancement of the country.

The refinery can cover all of Nigeria’s domestic needs for gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and aviation jet fuel, with an excess available for export. It is built to process a variety of crude types, including Middle Eastern and African grades, as well as US Light Tight Oil.
