Simone Inzaghi is under fire in Inter Milan after the Al Hilal switch

The repercussions of Inter Milan’s crushing 5–0 loss to PSG in the 2025 Champions League final have taken a new turn since the club is furious at Simone Inzaghi’s pre-final deal with Al Hilal.

The lucrative €25 million-per-season deal was reportedly agreed prior to the final, which greatly worried both club executives and supporters, even though the move was officially announced following the defeat. Giuseppe Marotta, the club president, made references to betrayal, suggesting that Inzaghi’s silence caused the team to become unstable before their most important game of the season.

Although Inzaghi maintained that he made his choice “with a clear head,” Inter supporters believe the coach psychologically checked out before the task was completed. Doubts over Inzaghi’s devotion were heightened by former players who complained about a “strange atmosphere” before the final and a lack of effort during training.

The timing of his leaving has left a bitter aftertaste, notwithstanding the trophies earned during his stay. Cristian Chivu is now in charge of Inter’s reconstruction, but the psychological damage caused by this ordeal is probably going to last long after this stormy summer.
