A Congolese justice minister quits in the face of corruption allegations
Constant Mutamba, the Minister of Justice of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, resigned after the parliament of the country approved legal action against him for alleged misappropriation.
On Tuesday, June 17, Mutamba gave President Felix Tshisekedi his letter of resignation, according to local media.
Mutamba was subject to travel limitations established by the Prosecutor General on Monday, following the National Assembly’s decision to revoke his immunity on Sunday.
A member of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa’s administration is charged with embezzlement of $19 million intended for the building of a prison in Kisangani, Tshopo province.
