Tunisia gives Abir Moussi, a well-known opposition leader, two years in jail
Abir Moussi, a well-known opponent of Tunisian President Kais Saied, was sentenced to two years in prison by a Tunisian court on Thursday for her criticism of the electoral commission, according to her attorney, who spoke to Reuters.
In what some claim was a crackdown on opposition leaders, Moussi, the leader of the Free Constitutional Party, has been in prison since 2023 after police detained her at the entrance to the presidential palace on suspicion of assault with the intent to cause disturbance.
