Peru wants to promote the bi-oceanic railroad by holding high-level meetings with China and Brazil
Peru will look to hold a high-level conference with China and Brazil to move forward with a planned bi-oceanic railway project, the country’s economy ministry said in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, China’s ambassador to Peru met with Economy Minister Raul Perez Reyes and informed him that a meeting between the leaders of the two nations would aid in defining a cooperative roadmap for the regional rail route.
By connecting Brazil to a new port on the Pacific coast of Peru, the proposed railway would open a trade route with China that would circumvent the southern tip of South America and the Panama Canal.
