Authorities Verify That a Failed Bomb Plot Targeted Lady Gaga’s Brazil Concert

Authorities in Brazil have announced they stopped a bomb plan that was intended to target Lady Gaga’s historic performance on Saturday, which drew 2.1 million spectators to Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach.

A organization that promotes hate speech and the radicalization of minors by utilizing violent and self-harming content “as a form of social belonging” was responsible for the scheme, according to the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police in collaboration with the Justice Ministry.

The police said that the suspects were enlisting people, including children, to carry out planned attacks using Molotov cocktails and improvised bombs.

The recruiters claimed to be members of the “Little Monsters,” Gaga’s international fan following, according to the Justice Ministry. After a tip from Rio State police intelligence, the scheme was discovered, and internet “cells” that used coded language and extremist symbolism to incite young violence were found.

While one adolescent in Rio de Janeiro was arrested for child pornography, a man known as the leader was arrested in Rio Grande do Sul for unlawfully possessing a pistol. Authorities in Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo carried out more than a dozen search and seizure warrants.

Despite the danger, the concert proceeded without any problems and grew to be one of the biggest in Brazilian history.
