Tigray officials warn that Ethiopia and Eritrea are headed for war
Officials in a tense area of Ethiopia at the heart of the tensions have warned that longtime enemies Ethiopia and Eritrea may be on the verge of war, posing a threat to another humanitarian catastrophe in the Horn of Africa.
According to observers, direct conflicts between two of Africa’s biggest armies would be the final blow to a historic rapprochement that Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed earned the Nobel Peace Prize for in 2019 and that might attract other regional countries.
