Charli XCX Takes Home a Huge Victory at the 2025 Brit Awards

The main winner of the 2025 BRIT Awards with Mastercard was Charli XCX.

British Dance Act, Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year for “Brat,” and Song of the Year for “Guess,” which featured Billie Eilish, were all won by the 32-year-old pop sensation.

With the accomplishment, Charli is now the second most-awarded artist in a single night in the ceremony’s history, only ahead of Adele, Blur, and Harry Styles, who have all won four awards in a single evening, and just behind RAYE, who took home six in 2024.

Following closely behind her was American pop sensation Chappell Roan, who won Best International Song for “Good Luck, Babe!” and defeated Beyoncé and Taylor Swift to win International Artist of the Year.

In other news, The Last Dinner Party, who won Best New Artist, demanded more financing for smaller venues, while Stormzy, who won Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, stated in his speech that he opposed allowing the public to vote for the winners.

A tribute to former One Direction member Liam Payne, who passed away in October 2024 at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony, took a somber turn as the singer was hailed as a “supremely talented musician.”

The evening featured a number of celebrity-studded performances, with Sabrina Carpenter opening with a combination of “Espresso” and “Bed Chem,” accompanied by a number of dancers costumed as guards from the Buckingham Palace.

Her first BRIT, the Global Success Award, came shortly after, and she dedicated it to the supporters who have helped her since she first appeared on the Disney Channel over ten years ago.

Teddy Swims played his singles “Bad Dreams,” “The Door,” and “Lose Control,” while Jade, a former member of Little Mix, performed “Angel of My Dreams” soon after winning Best Pop Act.

In a subsequent interview with Jack Whitehall, she hinted that she and her bandmates, who have not been together since 2022, might reunite at some point. She compared the prospect to that of the 1990s boyband Five, who recently revealed a UK return tour.

Myles Smith, a Rising Star recipient, sang “Nice To Meet You” and “Stargazing,” while Lola Young performed “Messy” and The Last Dinner Party sang “Nothing Matters.”

Shortly after accepting the Best Alternative/Rock Act award, Sam Fender performed “People Watching,” and Ezra Collective and Jorja Smith ended the performance after Shaboozey had to leave.
