Canada PM Trudeau Talks With King Charles About Prioritizing Independence

During his talks with King Charles, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau prioritized preserving Canada’s independence.

Speaking with King Charles on Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that protecting Canada’s sovereignty would be his top concern. This comes after US President Donald Trump recently suggested that Canada should become the 51st US state.

Ahead of his meeting with Charles, Canada’s head of state, Trudeau stressed that it was crucial for Canadians to “stand up for our sovereignty and our independence.”

Trump received a historic second state visit invitation from King Charles last week, which Prime Minister Keir Starmer personally delivered at a high-profile meeting in the Oval Office.

“I am excited to meet with His Majesty tomorrow. We will talk about issues that are essential to Canada and Canadians as usual, and I can assure you that nothing appears more important to Canadians than defending our national sovereignty and independence,” Trudeau said to reporters.

Trump’s claims that Canada should be incorporated into the US “is a real thing,” according to the outgoing prime minister, and they are connected to the nation’s abundant natural riches. Trump has stated on numerous occasions that the US would benefit more from Canada joining it.

In a succinct response, Trudeau said, “I stand with Zelensky,” in reference to Trump’s recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
