Simons of Leipzig will be out for several weeks due to a ligament injury
After sustaining a ligament damage in his left ankle during Wednesday’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Liverpool, RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons will be sidelined for several weeks, the Bundesliga team announced.
Simons, a Netherlands international on loan from Paris St. Germain, was replaced following a clash with Andrew Robertson, a defender for Liverpool.
Leipzig stated on Thursday that “a decision on how to treat the injury is yet to be made.”
In September and October, the 21-year-old, who has 24 caps for the Netherlands, started all four of their Nations League games.
Next month, the Netherlands, currently ranked second in Group A3 with five points, will play Hungary and Bosnia in an attempt to advance to the quarterfinals.
