India's TCS unit plans to invest as much as $7.4 billion in an AI data center campus

A subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services and its partners will invest up to 700 billion rupees ($7.41 billion) to construct a 1 gigawatt AI data center campus in the Indian state of Telangana, the company announced on Saturday.
TCS's subsidiary HyperVault has acquired 264 acres in Hyderabad for the project, which will be developed in phases.
The facility targets AI companies and hyperscalers, facilitating high-density GPU deployments for AI training and inference.
At full buildout, HyperVault stated that the campus is anticipated to be one of the largest AI infrastructure facilities in India.
TCS CEO K Krithivasan stated that Hyderabad provides the necessary scale, talent, and ecosystem to effectively serve global customers.
The announcement follows closely on the heels of TCS's agreement to acquire Porsche AG's automotive and consulting unit MHP, as the company expands its offerings beyond traditional IT services.
