Norway will offer $9.2 billion in support to Ukraine in 2027

Norway is set to provide $9.2 billion in support for Ukraine by 2027, as tensions escalate with intensified attacks on economic infrastructure from both Russia and Kyiv.

Norway has announced its intention to extend an additional 85 billion Norwegian crowns, approximately $9.2 billion, in financial assistance to Ukraine in 2027.

The Norwegian government announced on Sunday the proposed funding, which aligns with the amount designated for Ukraine in 2026.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, together with leaders from the Nordic and Baltic nations, is visiting Kyiv to express solidarity with Ukraine during its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Støre stated that the funding would assist in addressing both the military and humanitarian requirements of Ukraine.

“Supporting and rebuilding Ukraine goes beyond mere assistance.” “It represents a commitment to the security of Europe,” Støre stated in comments issued by the Norwegian government in Oslo.

The announcement arrives amid escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as both parties ramp up drone strikes aimed at vital economic infrastructure.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Saturday that Ukraine had opened a “Pandora’s box” by conducting strikes against Russian economic targets.

Putin cautioned that Moscow would respond by focusing on what he referred to as Ukraine’s “most sensitive economic sectors.”

Russia and Ukraine have intensified their drone strikes on economic and energy infrastructure, hitting locations far from the front lines.

The escalation occurs as the war nears its four-and-a-half-year milestone, with hostilities persisting despite global initiatives to aid Ukraine and resolve the conflict.
