Tezlyn Figaro criticizes Brandon Tatum following his “super ghetto” comment and calls for a debate with Nolan Wells

The political strategist is urging Tatum to confront her directly regarding his coverage of the Nolan Wells case, following his description of her as “super ghetto.”

Journalist and political strategist Tezlyn Figaro is intensifying her challenge to Brandon Tatum, urging the conservative commentator to engage in a debate regarding the Nolan Wells case after he labeled her as “super ghetto.”

Tezlyn Figaro criticizes Brandon Tatum for not engaging in a debate regarding the Nolan Wells case.

Brandon Tatum refers to Tezlyn Figaro as “Super Ghetto.

In a post on Instagram dated August 14, Figaro claimed that Tatum was evading a direct debate, as she would confront his reporting and conclusions regarding Wells in front of his audience. Figaro embraced the insult, asserting that her “SUPER GHETTO” self would bring shame upon him regarding the facts of the case.

The most recent confrontation stems from Figaro’s public debate challenge issued on August 12, where she requested an unedited discussion focused on Wells and Tatum’s remarks regarding the investigation. Figaro and Tatum have previously engaged in a public debate on NewsNation, during which Tatum contended that the Wells family ought to refrain from “interjecting race” into the case.

The remark about the “super ghetto” emerged during Tatum’s conversation with psychotherapist Elliott Connie. In the clip shared by Figaro, Tatum expressed that he was not entirely against the idea of debating her, but he took issue with what he described as her disrespectful manner. Figaro stressed that she still desires the debate and believes their disagreement should be resolved through a public examination of the evidence.

Their dispute has escalated as Tatum has conducted interviews with individuals who were with Wells during the period of his disappearance. Tatum conducted an interview with Warren Hudson and subsequently engaged in a discussion with Hudson, Jax Pitalo, and Morgan Seymour, where they tackled questions and criticism related to the case.

The Nolan Wells case continues to be unresolved. The 18-year-old football player from Southwest Mississippi Community College journeyed to Horn Island, Mississippi, with friends on July 4. His friends left for the mainland without him, and two days later, authorities discovered Wells dead along the island’s shoreline. The AP also reported that Wells was without his cellphone or keys when his friends departed, as those items were in their possession.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter informed the AP that investigators do not believe foul play is involved. Wells’ parents have raised concerns about the circumstances of their son’s final hours and are advocating for a more thorough investigation.

A private autopsy commissioned by the family revealed no fractures or deep tissue injuries; however, it was unable to ascertain the cause or manner of Wells’ death. Forensic pathologist Roger Mitchell stated that he could not dismiss the possibility of nonaccidental factors playing a role in Wells’ death without further information.

The state autopsy has been completed; however, the findings remain confidential and will be submitted to a grand jury for review.

That uncertainty is the reason Figaro’s challenge to Tatum has evolved into more than just an online personality clash. She seeks a direct debate to test the competing narratives surrounding Nolan Wells, and for the moment, that challenge remains open.
