A weeklong search for Emanuel Adams and Destiney Fields concluded in heartbreak when relatives found their crashed car in the woods. However, authorities reported that one small survivor was still clinging to life inside.
A crash in Carroll County, Georgia, which concluded a frantic search by a family, has resulted in two families mourning and four children left without a parent. Relatives had dedicated over a week to searching for 42-year-old Emanuel Adams and 25-year-old Destiney Fields when family members discovered a silver car in a wooded area off Oak Grove Road in Carrollton on Tuesday, August 4.

“My heart truly sank,” Justice Daniel shared with WSB-TV upon reaching the location.
Daniel mentioned that she and a cousin were exploring the area when something caught her attention in the direction of the woods.
“A feeling urged me to pause, and as I turned my gaze, I spotted the car,” she remarked.
The vehicle corresponded with the Nissan Altima that Adams was said to have been driving at the time of his disappearance. Daniel mentioned that a man who paused near the family ventured into the wooded area to examine the car.
“It was actually a guy who stopped with us; he went down there and confirmed that there were two people in the car,” Daniel said.
Georgia State Patrol investigators found that the 2013 Nissan Altima was heading west on Oak Grove Road when the driver was unable to navigate a curve.
Troopers reported that the vehicle veered off the right side of the road, crossed back over the roadway, and collided with a tree on the passenger side before finally coming to a stop in a deep ditch. Adams and Fields were declared deceased at the scene of the crash in Carroll County.
Authorities have yet to confirm the timing of the collision. Fields was last spotted by her sister in Carrollton on July 26. The couple was officially reported missing on August 1, based on information shared with the outlet by state troopers.
Amidst the heartbreak, first responders found the couple’s puppy alive within the mangled vehicle.
“The puppy was still alive,” Daniel remarked.
Georgia State Patrol has confirmed via FOX 5 Atlanta that the dog has been safely returned to its family. Officials have not disclosed the duration for which the puppy was trapped inside the car, as the precise date of the Carroll County crash is still being investigated.
Loved ones assembled along Oak Grove Road while emergency crews operated at the scene. Randy Simpkins, the employer of Adams, expressed that Adams had briefly resided on his farm and had grown to feel like a member of the family.
“Emmanuel is a kind-hearted and affectionate young man,” Simpkins shared with WSB TV.
“We’ve been searching for him for a week and attempting to contact him, and I just can’t believe he is gone,” he said.
As reported by WSB TV, Adams is survived by three children, whereas Fields is survived by one child. A relative informed the station that the two had recently begun dating, although law enforcement agencies have not publicly clarified their relationship.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office communicated via FOX 5 Atlanta that the case is still ongoing and urged the community to keep the victims’ families and the first responders in their thoughts and prayers.
