DJ Khaled has been honored with a Billboard-sized RIAA Lifetime Legacy Plaque in New York
DJ Khaled has been honored with a massive RIAA Lifetime Legacy Plaque, celebrating two decades of his career, 80 million records sold, and an impressive 20 billion streams.
DJ Khaled has received a billboard-sized RIAA Lifetime Legacy Plaque in New York City, celebrating 20 years in the music industry and acknowledging a career that has produced over 80 million records sold and well over 20 billion streams globally.
The presentation occurred at Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, where The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon revealed the impressive structure to an audience of fans, family, and industry associates. The award celebrated Khaled’s accomplishments from 2006 to 2026, emphasizing the commercial success that has established him as one of hip-hop’s most recognizable figures.
The custom-built plaque, spanning a vast outdoor display area, showcased artwork from all 13 of Khaled’s studio albums. It also included information about his platinum-certified singles and albums, along with impressive career figures of 80 million records sold and 20 billion global streams.
Fallon explained that the plaque’s unusual size was essential, as Khaled’s catalog could not fit on a conventional award display.
“You have an abundance of hit songs that simply can’t be contained on a standard-sized plaque,” Fallon remarked during the presentation, clarifying the reason for unveiling the award outdoors instead of inside the studio.
The ceremony was crafted as a surprise for Khaled. During the event, it was shared that his wife, Nicole Tuck, along with their sons Asahd and Aalam and members of Roc Nation and We The Best Music Group, organized plans to bring him to the show early under a different pretext prior to the plaque’s unveiling.
The unexpected revelation seemed to take the music executive and producer by surprise as he gathered with his family for the unveiling. Khaled sat with his two sons as the large plaque was unveiled to the assembled crowd.
The award not only honored Khaled’s enduring presence in the industry but also highlighted the breadth of his discography. The display prominently showcased all 13 studio albums released throughout his career, highlighting his transformation from a Miami-based DJ and radio personality to a globally recognized recording artist, producer, and entrepreneur.
Various media reports and fan accounts have characterized the structure as the largest plaque ever awarded to a music artist, highlighting the magnitude of the tribute and the accomplishments it was meant to honor.
Although the event centered on his previous achievements, Khaled swiftly shifted the focus to what lies ahead. He seized the chance to reveal that another project was already in the works after counting the 13 albums on the plaque.
“I’m already working on album number 14,” Khaled announced, indicating that he has no intention of slowing down even after reaching the 20-year milestone.
The recognition further enhances Khaled’s impressive career, characterized by chart-topping collaborations, platinum-selling releases, and a significant presence in music, media, and popular culture.
