United have signed Brazilian midfielder Santos from Chelsea
Manchester United have secured the signing of Brazil midfielder Andrey Santos from Premier League rivals Chelsea on a contract that runs until June 2031, as confirmed by both clubs on Monday.
United have reportedly paid an initial fee of 48 million pounds ($64.30 million) for Santos, with an additional two million pounds potentially payable in add-ons.
To be honest, I have envisioned this moment since childhood. The history and the responsibility that accompany this badge are the reasons for my presence here,” Santos, 22, stated in a video shared by United on social media.
Santos joined Chelsea in 2023 and experienced loan spells at Brazilian Serie A side Vasco da Gama, Nottingham Forest, and Strasbourg before making his return to Stamford Bridge for the 2025-26 campaign.
He made 43 appearances for Chelsea last season.
His arrival addresses the void created by Casemiro, who left United at the conclusion of last season following the expiration of his contract.
The midfielder is anticipated to enhance manager Michael Carrick’s options after Manuel Ugarte suffered a knee ligament injury during Uruguay’s 1-0 World Cup loss to Spain last month, which may keep him out of action for a significant duration.
Santos has earned six caps for Brazil but was not included in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup, where the five-time champions were eliminated in the Round of 16.
