Josh Grisetti has passed away at the age of 44, following a poignant final post on Instagram
On July 10, Josh Grisetti passed away, known for his role in the Broadway musical “Something Rotten” and his appearance in Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” He was forty-four.
Broadway actor Rob McClure, who performed alongside Grisetti in “Something Rotten,” shared the news of his friend’s passing on Instagram Sunday night.
“Josh Grisetti, a remarkable individual, took his own life on Friday,” McClure wrote, expressing his deep sorrow. “I’m not prepared to even try to comprehend.” My thoughts are with his wife and family as they deal with the difficulties of this situation. Some of my most cherished memories were spent alongside this man, portraying his brother onstage for years, witnessing him inspire students while revolutionizing the musical theatre program at Cal State Fullerton …and having the privilege of being the best man at his wedding. Maggie and I are utterly devastated. His absence will forever alter communities across the globe. We adore you, Josh. It is an overwhelming and devastating loss. Rick Ferrari, Grisetti’s agent, confirmed the actor’s death in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, expressing, “I’m absolutely devastated. “That is all I can express.
Grisetti played the role of Nigel, one half of the Bottom Brothers alongside McClure, in “Something Rotten,” a story about two brothers vying for theatrical success against William Shakespeare in 1595. In 2015, it received nominations for 10 Tony Awards, among them the prestigious best musical category.
Grisetti was a prominent actor in the show during the years 2016-17 and subsequently became part of the U.S. national tour from 2017-18. He also made appearances in various shows across the country, such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “Matilda,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Ragtime,” “SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical,” and others.
In the fifth and final season of Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Grisetti portrayed Ralph, a staff writer at the “Gordon Ford Show.” He additionally instructed musical theater at California State University, Fullerton.
