Trump has issued pardons to 11 individuals convicted in cases related to the Clean Air Act and fraud

Donald Trump frees 11 people who were convicted under the Clean Air Act, saying that the prosecutions were politically motivated.

Eleven people have been freed from prison after being found guilty of breaking the Clean Air Act by changing or turning off emissions controls on diesel cars.

The White House reported that all but two of the individuals granted clemency faced charges related to car emissions. This is the latest time that Trump has used his power to pardon people.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump defended six of the men, saying that they had been wrongfully prosecuted during the time of former President Joe Biden. “They were charged with a crime during the Biden administration for fixing their car.”

Most of the pardons went to people who were found guilty of changing or turning off federally required emissions control systems on trucks, which is against the Clean Air Act.

The pardons come after the Trump administration got rid of important environmental rules. In February, the Trump administration eliminated the scientific finding that greenhouse gas emissions are harmful to public health and repealed the federal rules requiring cars and trucks to meet specific emissions guidelines.

Vice Chairman of the Staffing Advisory Group Adam Kidan was one of those who got their sentences commuted. He and Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff were both sentenced to prison in 2006 for wire fraud.
