Big Tigger said he wasn’t guilty, and then the Ring camera footage came out

The former host of Rap City rejected everything his wife said. Public security film now reveals a different story about the alleged event.

Ever since his wife’s claims went public, Big Tigger has denied all of them. However, the new Ring camera footage presents a significantly different narrative. Now that the security tape from inside the couple’s Georgia home is public, the internet is once again focused on the case, even though the former BET Rap City host and V-103 morning show host was arrested days ago.

TMZ got the tape and says that it shows part of the alleged incident on May 9 between Big Tigger, whose real name is Darian Morgan, and his wife Alicia Brown. You can hear Alicia asking someone to take a picture. The person then walks up to her, grabs her, and tells her to stop. They are fighting, and she keeps yelling, “Get off of me!” Then he moves her to a corner of the room, behind a door, and out of view of the camera. There is a loud noise, and then what sounds like her crying can be heard. Things that happen off-screen are the worst, but what is caught on camera is awful to watch.

It’s easy to see why this video is so important. Big Tigger has said in public that he is innocent, saying that he strongly denies all the accusations made against him and pointing to a career that was built on community and relationships over many years. A sentence is one thing. One more is video. But now that the security video is going around, his denial is running into film that seems to show a fight, and that is something that is much harder to explain in public or in court.

For those who are just now learning about the incident, it all began in early June when Alicia Brown shared a disturbing video of herself crying and showing a badly hurt eye and stitches running from her eyebrow to the middle of her forehead. She asked someone to ask her husband why her face looked that way. She talked about Francesca Amiker, who works with Big Tigger on the V-103 morning show, and linked the situation to both claimed abuse and a relationship between the two coworkers. Later, Alicia told police that they got into a fight because she confronted him about text messages with a woman he worked with. She said that he called her a psycho and pushed her into a door, cutting her above the eye so deeply that she needed stitches. Reports say that when she came in for treatment, medical workers called the police.

The case against him was already forceful when the video came out. On June 20, Big Tigger was arrested on charges of aggravated attack and third-degree cruelty to children. The charges against the child were based on the fact that the couple’s young son was home during the alleged incident. He was let go after putting up a ten thousand dollar security bond. Then, on June 24, a judge in Fulton County gave Alicia a temporary protective order. The order told him to stay at least 200 yards away from her and their kids and not talk to them. In Georgia, these are not minor charges; aggravated abuse can get you twenty years in prison on its own.

Francesca Amiker has rejected the affair claims, and she and Big Tigger talked about it on air. He is still denying the charges, even though the tape is public, and he is innocent until proven guilty. He has a right to the court process, and it will happen.

Alicia has also shown that she wants to keep talking. She said the last few weeks had been hard in a message she sent at the end of June. She pushed back against what she called “false narratives” and took full responsibility for posting the video of her injuries. She expressed that the lack of accountability and recognition had been challenging for her. She asked people to be patient while she and her lawyers figure out how she wants to fully explain her side of the story.

The identity of Big Tigger is what makes this story so significant. He has been a known face in Black media for more than thirty years, from Rap City to Atlanta’s morning drive radio. For many of us, he is a voice we grew up with. This situation feels surreal when you witness the same person being jailed, ordered to stay away from his own family, and then appearing in this video.

One can reason against a denial. There is a loud noise coming from behind a door; a woman is screaming, “Get off of me!” and there are stitches on her face. The public release of the arrest, charges, protective order, and this video has sparked more questions about one of Atlanta’s most well-known speakers. The situation is far from resolved.
