Tulsi Gabbard Says Anthony Fauci lied to Congress and changed intelligence about where COVID came from

Former intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard says Fauci influenced COVID origin findings, lied to Congress, and silenced analysts who didn’t agree with him.

Tulsi Gabbard, who used to be the director of national intelligence for the US, has accused Dr. Anthony Fauci, who used to be the head of the US Department of Health, of changing intelligence reports about where COVID-19 came from, interfering with government investigations, and lying to Congress under oath about having conversations with intelligence agencies.

Gabbard said that new papers and conversations supposedly show how Fauci worked with top intelligence officials to shape assessments about the pandemic and the idea that the virus was leaked in a Chinese lab.

“These documents show Fauci’s direct involvement in shaping and manipulating IC assessments on COVID-19. They also show how Fauci lied to Congress in 2024 when he said he didn’t know about or take part in discussions with intelligence officials about viral research while he was under oath.”

The statement says that Fauci, when he was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, gave the go-ahead for the US government to pay for coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The former head of intelligence called this work “dangerous gain-of-function research.”

“While he was responsible for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases before the COVID pandemic, Dr. Fauci gave millions of dollars from the US taxpayers to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to fund risky gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses.”

The former official also said that Fauci used his connections in the intelligence community to sway studies that supported the idea that the virus came from nature, while other ideas were pushed to the side.

Dr. Fauci, with his carefully selected experts, influenced the intelligence community to endorse a natural animal origin, concealing his risky gain-of-function research funded by taxpayer money.

The statement also said that intelligence experts who disagreed with the government’s official views on where the virus came from would be punished and lose their jobs.

“It was clear: do what I say or get in trouble.”

Gabbard says that several whistleblowers said they were threatened, pushed to the side, or turned down for jobs after supporting the lab-leak theory or questioning the current intelligence assessments.

He also said that Fauci’s suggestions were often used in reviews by the intelligence community and that science opinions that were different were mostly ignored during the evaluation process.

The release of hundreds of emails demonstrates that the intelligence community almost always followed Fauci’s suggestions.

She said that the new documents go against what Fauci said in his previous testimony to Congress, in which he denied talking about COVID-19 with intelligence services.

“Now, the letters I’m releasing today directly contradict what he said under oath.”

He said the documents were being made public to be open and accountable, and he insisted that the people should know what choices were made during the pandemic.

“The American people deserve honesty, openness, and responsibility after years of lies, censorship, and cover-ups.”
