Ancelotti confirms that Neymar will play against Scotland after being out for Brazil’s first two World Cup games
Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar will be available to play against Scotland after being sidelined for Brazil’s initial two World Cup group matches due to injury.
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has announced that Neymar Jr will play in the South American team’s final World Cup group-stage match against Scotland, following his absence in the first two matches of the tournament.
Ancelotti announced on Saturday, after Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti at the Philadelphia Stadium, a result that ensured their second group-stage appearance.
Neymar has been out of action since sustaining a calf injury prior to the start of the World Cup earlier this month.
The Santos forward did not participate in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco and their impressive victory against Haiti.
Brazil secured a decisive victory against Haiti, thanks to two goals from Matheus Cunha and another from Vinicius Jr., as the five-time world champions enjoyed a smooth triumph.
After the match, Ancelotti provided an update on Neymar’s recovery, expressing confidence that the forward would be ready for the upcoming clash against Scotland.
In his post-match interview following the victory over Haiti, the Italian coach, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, stated, “Neymar will train individually tomorrow, then on Sunday he will return to team training and will be called up for the match against Scotland.”
Neymar continues to hold the title of Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, with an impressive tally of 79 goals for the national team.
