E-40 showcases his impressive Billboard 200 history, reminding fans of his rightful place in every hip-hop discussion

E-40 is not seeking charity from hip-hop. He is indicating the scoreboard.

The California legend possesses the evidence to back up the claims. In August 2025, Billboard announced that YoungBoy Never Broke Again achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the rapper with the highest number of Billboard 200 entries, totaling 34 albums, surpassing E-40’s former record of 33.

That is precisely what 40 mentioned in his video.

“One aspect of my character is that I am persistent, you know.” I have compiled the most significant 200 Billboard album entries in the history of hip-hop. “Aside from NBA YoungBoy, whom he surpassed last year,” he stated. “It’s been three years since I released an album.” NBA YoungBoy is my guy. I adore him. He’s incredibly talented and truly deserves it.

He then sharpened the point.

“I’m not competing with anyone.” I want to share that I have achieved 33 entries in the top 200 of the Billboard album chart. Achieving a spot on the Billboard Top 200 is a significant challenge.

He is correct regarding the significance of that chart. Billboard defines the Billboard 200 as the most popular albums of the week, compiled by Luminate using a multi-metric approach that integrates traditional album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums. When E-40 states, “For those who don’t know, the Top 200 is pop, rock, jazz, Christian rap, all genres of music,” he emphasizes that this chart encompasses more than just rap.

The lyrical icon also referenced certifications.

“Show me your favorite rapper doing that.” Let me check if he has even received a single gold certification from the RIAA. Only one.

The RIAA’s Gold & Platinum program continues to serve as a key benchmark for commercial success in the music industry, with Gold awarded for 500,000 units, Platinum for 1 million units, and Multi-Platinum starting at 2 million units. E-40’s certified catalog can be confirmed through RIAA’s Gold & Platinum database, and his chart history clearly illustrates the point he is making: his success was never just a fortunate streak.

“In a Major Way” reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200, “Tha Hall of Game” climbed to No. 4, and “My Ghetto Report Card” debuted at No. 3, marking one of the most significant chart achievements of his career.

The accolades extend beyond mere numbers as well. Rolling Stone included “In a Major Way” in its list of the 200 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time, and Billboard ranked the album at No. 99 on its 100 Greatest Rap Albums list.

Still, 40 understands that the conversation does not always regard him as the blueprint he truly is.

“But still, you all criticized me.” And the outcome isn’t luck at this point; it’s been 38 years. “Come on, man, stop it,” he said. “It’s simply the nature of being an innovator.” You don’t receive the recognition you truly deserve as a pioneer, since innovators often go unacknowledged until much later.

His hometown had already left its mark on him. In 2023, Vallejo honored E-40 by presenting him with the key to the city and renaming almost a mile of Magazine Street as “E-40 Way,” according to KQED.

E-40 concluded with the genuine objective.

“As long as I leave my mark on this earth, you know what I mean?” Continue to express this legalized substance through your words and use your verbal artistry to inspire. You understand what I mean? Many young individuals teach them how to become entrepreneurs and moguls and how to avoid foolishness. You comprehend my thoughts? I am pleased with my professional journey. Love.

The data indicates that he should be satisfied.
