Lil Wayne’s former bodyguard sought financial compensation, but the judge responded with a bill instead
A judge ruled in favor of Wayne following a lengthy legal battle related to an alleged confrontation in 2021.
Lil Wayne has successfully navigated a significant lawsuit, emerging victorious, while his former bodyguard, Christian Carlos, now faces a sanctions bill totaling $29,225. The lawsuit concluded on Wednesday when a judge in Los Angeles ruled in Wayne’s favor, as per court documents acquired by TMZ. The outlet reports that the court had initially awarded Wayne $26,000, subsequently adding another $3,225 when Carlos’ case was dismissed.
That result presents this case with a new headline compared to its initial one. Carlos initiated the lawsuit in December 2023, alleging that Wayne assaulted him and displayed a firearm during an altercation at the rapper’s residence in Hidden Hills in 2021. Wayne refuted the allegations, and the court has subsequently concluded the case in his favor.
The initial complaint contained significant allegations. In 2023, RadarOnline reported that Carlos accused Wayne of threatening, assaulting, and battering him while allegedly aiming a semiautomatic rifle at him during an incident on December 1, 2021, at the rapper’s home in Los Angeles. Carlos also asserted that he experienced emotional distress, PTSD, physical and emotional injuries, medical expenses, lost wages, and diminished earning capacity.
The reported disagreement stemmed from allegations of leaked photos. It was widely reported that Carlos stated Wayne accused him of leaking photos and demanded he vacate the property, and that the supposed confrontation ensued. RadarOnline has also confirmed that law enforcement sources previously indicated a security team member accused Wayne of brandishing an AR-15 following a disagreement over purported leaked photos, although a source close to Wayne has denied that the incident occurred.
The case encountered procedural pressure prior to this final ruling. In June 2024, Carlos worked diligently to avoid the dismissal of the lawsuit, which was at risk due to a filing-date issue linked to California’s two-year statute of limitations. According to that report, Carlos’ side contended that the complaint was submitted electronically on December 1, 2023, the final day he was eligible to file, but it was subsequently rejected due to a discrepancy.
Now, the situation has shifted from a public allegation against Wayne to a legal defeat for the former bodyguard. The courtroom’s conclusion diverged significantly from the initial stages of the lawsuit, with the rapper receiving a judgment and facing sanctions.
