Ariana Grande requests that the White House cease using her music in immigration-related videos
Ariana Grande requests that the White House cease using her music following the inclusion of her song “Bye” in an immigration enforcement video.
Pop star Ariana Grande has requested that the White House cease using her music in videos that promote President Donald Trump’s policies, following the inclusion of one of her songs in a social media post that showcased immigration enforcement actions.
The disagreement started when the White House released a video on TikTok this week highlighting its immigration policy. The video featured federal agents arresting and handcuffing individuals, accompanied by Grande’s 2024 song “Bye” as its soundtrack.
“Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” Grande commented on the White House TikTok post on Thursday.
A source close to the singer indicated that her team was working to have the music removed from the video as swiftly as possible.
The White House reacted strongly to Grande’s criticism. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson stated: “We’ll reiterate this one final time: what is truly barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have harmed and killed innocent American citizens.”
Grande, a Grammy Award-winning singer and Academy Award-nominated actress, has previously expressed her criticism of the Trump administration. Last year, she posted on Instagram, inquiring if voters felt their lives had gotten better since Trump took office again.
The White House and Trump’s communications team often incorporate popular songs in brief social media videos to promote administration policies and actions. Recent posts have brought attention to immigration enforcement operations, US military actions against Iran, and the arrest of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.
The incident places Grande among an increasing number of musicians who have voiced their objections to the use of their music in politically charged content linked to the Trump administration.
