Trump leaves an interview with NBC after his claims of a “rigged election” lead to a confrontation

Trump ends the NBC interview after a heated argument with Kristen Welker about claims about the election and requests for proof.

US President Donald Trump stopped an NBC interview quickly after getting angry with host Kristen Welker over his claims that US elections were “rigged.”

The interview on NBC’s Meet the Press was cut short because Trump was asked over and over to back up the claims he made about the 2020 presidential election and the current California primary elections.

Trump said, “They’re cheating on the election,” when asked if the California vote was being tampered with.

He told Welker, “All I have to do is look, and I listen,” when asked to show proof.

Trump then said that the media was biased and reporters were “crooked” after the host told him that his comments were not proof.

Trump got more angry and said, “You’re either crooked or you’re stupid.” He then told Welker, “Let’s end it because I’ve had enough.”

He also said bad things about the press in general, like “the United States can never be great with a dishonest press.” Then he got up and left the set.

NBC said that the interview had already been delayed by weather and technical problems. Trump was on air for about 50 minutes before the session ended.

A lot of the talk was also about US foreign policy, including the conflict with Iran. Trump said that the US had to get involved to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

Politicians were against the idea of an “anti-weaponization” fund, which was dropped, and the interview also talked about the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Welker said that she had talked to Trump after the show, and they had both agreed that it had been hard to film and that he would agree to an interview in the future.

The White House hasn’t said anything about what happened yet.
