Malawi: Scorchers Conclude Tanzania Tour with a Draw

The Malawi Women’s National Football Team concluded their two-match international friendly series against Tanzania with a scoreless draw at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

The Scorchers delivered a commendable performance, dominating significant portions of the match and generating multiple scoring chances, yet they were unable to secure the crucial goal. Head coach Lovemore Fazili expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance and consistency during the match.

The performance itself was quite impressive. Outstanding performance thus far. At the beginning of the game and upon its conclusion, the performance remained consistent. “Everyone performed exceptionally well, from the goalkeeper to the defense, midfield, and strikers,” said Fazili.

He acknowledged that finishing is still the primary area for improvement, pointing out that the team once again generated chances but was unable to convert them.

“It’s simply the same situation that occurred on Wednesday. We had numerous opportunities, yet we were unable to take advantage of them. Ultimately, I’m pleased with every player who had the opportunity to participate. The coordination was exceptional,” he said.

The Scorchers wrap up their FIFA international friendly tour of Tanzania, having suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first match before bouncing back to secure a draw in the second encounter. The team will now redirect their attention to the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
