Obama White House Instagram account was hacked, and Meta confirmed the security breach

The Instagram account of the Obama White House was compromised, resulting in the appearance of fraudulent posts before Meta intervened to secure the page and eliminate the content.

The official Instagram account of the Obama White House has experienced a security breach, resulting in unauthorized posts being published before the platform was able to regain control of the page.

The account, @obamawhitehouse, started showcasing unusual content on Sunday, featuring an AI-generated image along with a caption claiming that “the White House is under Shiites’ control.” The posts quickly attracted attention before their removal.

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has confirmed the incident, securing the account and removing all unauthorized content.

The hack also allegedly included several Instagram Stories shared without permission.

Barack Obama had a distinct personal Instagram account; however, the page in question is the official archival account of the Obama White House. Its last verified post is from January 20, 2017, coinciding with Donald Trump’s first inauguration.

Meta has not revealed the details of how the breach took place or named those accountable for the incident, which is still under investigation.
