U.S. ready to start bombing Iran again if there is no deal, says secretary of defense
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Saturday that the U.S. is ready to start attacking Iran again if a deal can’t be reached. The announcement came as diplomats from Washington and Tehran worked to solve major problems that were stopping them from reaching an agreement.
“Our ability to recommence if necessary…we are more than capable,” Hegseth stated in Singapore. “We’re in a good place, with stockpiles suitable for that both there and globally,” he said.
Hegseth stated at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s premier gathering for defense leaders, military leaders, and diplomats, that despite being at war with Iran, the U.S. has not abandoned the Asia-Pacific region.

“We can do two things at the same time.” He said, “We’re supercharging our defense industrial base so that we can build twice, three times, or four times as many weapons very soon to make sure that all of our operations plans are properly funded around the world.”
The head of the Pentagon said that President Trump is “patient” and wants to make a “great deal” to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
On Friday, Trump said he would meet in a secure White House room to make a “final determination” on a plan to end the Iran war. This would extend a truce that began in early April for another 60 days, giving peace talks time to come up with a lasting solution.
The U.S. and Israel started a war on February 28 that has killed thousands of people, mostly in Iran and Lebanon. The war has also hurt the world economy by making oil pricier because Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz.
