Ashley Young, the veteran full-back, has announced his retirement and is now focused on achieving promotion with Ipswich Town in his final Championship match this weekend.

Ashley Young has announced his retirement at the conclusion of the season, marking the end of a 23-year professional career that has spanned both England and Italy.

The 40-year-old, now with Ipswich Town, stated that his primary focus is to assist the club in achieving promotion to the Premier League on the last day of the Championship season.

Young, with 765 club appearances and 88 goals to his name, referred to his career as a “dream” and mentioned that he will consider his future plans in the months ahead.

He had successful periods with Manchester United, securing the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League, and subsequently won the Serie A title with Inter Milan.

Young achieved 39 caps while representing the England national team at the international level.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna commended Young’s impact, emphasizing his professionalism and determination as vital factors in the club’s promotion efforts.
