Putin Vows Assistance to Iran in Pursuit of Middle East Peace Initiatives

Russian President Putin pledges support for Iran, while Araghchi asserts that the US “achieved none of their goals” and is pursuing negotiations.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured Iran of Moscow’s support in efforts to restore peace in the Middle East, informing Tehran’s top diplomat that Russia would act in the interests of regional stability.

During a meeting in St. Petersburg with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Putin expressed Moscow’s ongoing commitment to supporting both Iran and the broader region.

“We will do everything that serves your interests and the interests of all the people in the region to achieve peace as soon as possible,” Putin was quoted by Russian state media as saying.

He commended Iran’s resilience in the face of ongoing tensions, remarking on “how courageously and heroically the people of Iran are fighting for their independence and sovereignty.”

The Russian leader reaffirmed bilateral ties, stating, “Russia, just like Iran, intends to continue our strategic relationship.”

Araghchi, who traveled to Russia for discussions with Putin and other high-ranking officials, attributed the collapse of negotiations intended to resolve the conflict to the United States, despite the ongoing ceasefire between the parties.

Araghchi stated that Washington did not succeed in reaching its goals in the conflict with Iran.

“The U.S. has accomplished none of its objectives,” he stated. “This is why they are requesting negotiations.” We are currently evaluating it.

The Iranian foreign minister emphasized the strong relationship between the two countries when addressing inquiries regarding Moscow’s involvement.

“Iran and Russia are strategic partners,” Araghchi stated, noting that the two nations “have consistently supported” one another.

“He added that our cooperation would continue.”
