RZA hopes Barack Obama will induct Wu-Tang Clan into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the 2026 ceremony

Wu-Tang Clan’s forthcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame already feels monumental, but RZA suggests that one guest could elevate the occasion even further.

The iconic rap group will be inducted into the Hall’s Class of 2026 this November, alongside esteemed artists such as Phil Collins, Sade, Billy Idol, and others. With excitement mounting, RZA has expressed his desire for former President Barack Obama to take the stage and introduce the Staten Island icons.

In an interview with Consequence, RZA remarked, “It would be incredible if Barack Obama made an appearance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” 

He reaffirmed the notion, stating, “If I were in his position, I would take it into account.” “Hey, Michelle, do you know what I’m thinking of doing?” I believe I am on the verge of heading to Cleveland with the Wu-Tang Clan. Sade will be present at the event. Phil Collins will be present. It will be a home filled with positive energy.

RZA expressed that his respect for Obama is profound and encompasses his family as well.

“I truly admire your work,” he expressed.

For the producer and filmmaker, an induction speech holds significance that transcends mere ceremony. “You desire a hero to initiate you. I don’t have many heroes, but Barack Obama is certainly one of them. It simply is what it is.

He had earlier suggested other potential names, such as Quentin Tarantino, Leonardo DiCaprio, and LeBron James. Nonetheless, Obama continues to be the leading option.

The Wu-Tang Clan played a pivotal role in transforming hip-hop and influencing global culture, rendering their induction into the Hall of Fame long overdue. Regardless of whether Obama responds to the call, the group’s significance in music history is already secured.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
