Rihanna House Shooting Suspect Loses Custody Rights as Disturbing Case Takes a New Turn
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz is encountering yet another significant obstacle as her criminal case related to the shooting outside Rihanna’s Los Angeles residence continues to expand.
A Florida woman facing accusations of firing a weapon near a property has been instructed by the court to refrain from any contact with her child until further notice. According to TMZ, the child’s father has been granted full custody, and any communication will necessitate his approval.
The custody ruling arrives as Ortiz contends with several felony charges related to the incident from last month. She faced 10 counts of assault involving a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited vehicle or dwelling, as charged by prosecutors. She has entered a plea of not guilty.
Officials had earlier stated that Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, their three children, Rihanna’s mother, and staff members were present in the home when gunfire broke out. While there were no injuries reported, officials have indicated that the level of danger was considerable. Investigators further claim that Ortiz discharged his weapon in the direction of a nearby residence, thereby increasing the count of alleged victims involved in the case.
“Rihanna was present with her partner, her three children, her mother, and two staff members, accounting for eight of the 10 counts related to an assault involving a semi-automatic firearm,” Nathan Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney, stated shortly after the shooting. “Furthermore, Ms. Ortiz faces allegations of discharging a firearm at a nearby residence that housed two other individuals.”
He subsequently clarified that prosecutors plan to approach the matter with determination.
“Discharging a firearm in any populated area is highly perilous, endangers lives, and will be met with full legal consequences,” he stated. “Fortunately, there were no injuries in this shooting; however, such reckless violence will not be accepted in our community.” Those shooters will discover that their next stop is our jails and prisons.
Reports indicate that Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist from Florida, allegedly posted videos about Rihanna on social media prior to the shooting. The legal repercussions are extending well beyond the confines of the criminal courtroom.
