Troops from Uganda and Congo have freed 200 prisoners held by rebels with ties to IS
Ugandan and Congolese soldiers successfully rescued at least 200 civilians during a raid on an Islamist militant camp in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo last week, according to a statement from Uganda’s military on Monday.
The captives were held by the Allied Democratic Forces, an Ugandan group active in eastern Congo that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State a decade ago.
