The update represents a notable advancement in the death investigation; however, it has not alleviated the increasing frustration related to the case. Harry Robinson, her father, informed TMZ that he recently made a trip to Washington, D.C., to urge U.S. officials to assist in establishing communication with authorities in Tanzania, the location of his daughter’s death. The outreach seemed to produce positive results. Robinson stated that officials successfully established contact, and the family was notified that the autopsy had been completed on Tuesday. Yet, the sense of relief was fleeting. The family has yet to receive the results.
Robinson stated that they have only been informed that the investigation is still ongoing, which leaves them in a state of uncertainty as they await the complete report to decide on their next actions.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that Tanzanian authorities have not returned Ashlee’s body to her family, prolonging what Robinson characterized as an already distressing experience. The family states that without the autopsy findings and custody of her remains, they cannot proceed.
A local Tanzanian outlet previously reported that records indicated her “immediate cause of death” as cerebral hypoxia resulting from strangulation and suffocation, although officials have not publicly confirmed these findings.
Ashlee, born Ashly Robinson, passed away on April 10 after being discovered unconscious at a resort in Zanzibar. Authorities are actively looking into the circumstances surrounding her death, which includes a reported dispute with her fiancé, Joseph McCann. He is presently under interrogation following his initial assertion that the woman took her life.
