Chelsea Maintains Suspension of Enzo Fernández Despite His Apology Before Man City Match

Even with apologies from Enzo Fernández and his agent, Chelsea maintains the suspension before the match against Manchester City.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has announced that Enzo Fernández will continue to be suspended for this weekend’s Premier League match against Manchester City, even after the midfielder and his agent offered apologies in light of recent tensions at the club.

The Argentine international received a two-match internal suspension following comments and interviews during the March international break that were considered a sign of insufficient commitment to Chelsea, including statements expressing his admiration for Madrid.

Following Chelsea’s elimination from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, tensions escalated as Fernández hesitated to fully commit to the club and expressed his desire to live in Madrid, drawing a comparison to his hometown of Buenos Aires.

Manager Rosenior addressed the situation by stating that the midfielder had “crossed a line” and confirmed that he would be absent for matches against Port Vale and Manchester City as a form of disciplinary action.

Despite the revelation from Fernández’s agent regarding the occurrence of peace talks and the subsequent apologies issued by both the player and his representative to the club, Chelsea has decided to maintain the suspension.

Rosenior confirmed that Fernández will not be available for the Manchester City fixture, noting that “obstacles” continue to hinder the resolution of the situation between the player and the club.
