Former NFL player Rickey Thenarse was shot in the stomach following an alleged dispute related to a love triangle in Los Angeles

Officials report that the former football star is anticipated to make a recovery while investigators continue their search for suspects.

A personal situation reportedly escalated into violence, resulting in Rickey Thenarse battling to recover after being shot in Los Angeles.

Reports indicate that the former Nebraska standout and brief NFL player was shot in the stomach in South Los Angeles on Friday. He was quickly taken into emergency surgery and, fortunately, is anticipated to recover well after receiving timely medical care.

As details continue to emerge, sources indicate that the shooting could be connected to a complicated love triangle involving Thenarse, his girlfriend, and the father of her child. The situation, which had seemingly been escalating, seems to have culminated just days prior to the incident.

According to law enforcement sources, two individuals, identified as a man and a woman, were observed escaping the scene in a black SUV shortly after the shooting occurred. Currently, no arrests have been made, and detectives are diligently looking into the events that preceded the gunfire.

Thenarse established his reputation as a four-star recruit prior to his time at Nebraska from 2006 to 2010, where he participated in 51 games and received special teams MVP accolades early in his career. In 2011, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, participating in three preseason games before his release.

The investigation is still in progress as authorities strive to uncover the precise circumstances that led to the escalation of a personal dispute into violence.
