50 Cent Mocks $75M Documentary Deal, Hulu Then Confirms It is truly unfolding

What began as a lighthearted jest has now become a formal reality. The documentary series on 50 Cent is making its way to Hulu, with Deadline providing exclusive confirmation that the deal is indeed happening.

On April 1, 50 Cent hinted that Hulu was offering $75 million for a documentary about his life, reportedly outbidding Starz, Netflix, and Apple. The timing had individuals raising their eyebrows at the announcement, yet the punchline never materialized. Deadline has reported that the streamer has officially greenlit the project.

The three-part series will trace Jackson’s rise from Queens to global fame, including surviving nine gunshots and selling over 30 million records. The official description states that the “definitive” documentary will trace the journey of 50 Cent—from the streets of Queens to global cultural prominence—examining how he tirelessly transformed himself in music, business, and film while reshaping the standards of power, influence, and success. The series presents a figure who has continually turned conflict and adversity into lasting cultural influence, all through a personal and insightful perspective.

Jackson initially gained recognition with “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” in 2003, subsequently branching out into television with Power. He also produced the Netflix documentary “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” highlighting his expanding influence behind the camera.

Directed by Mandon Lovett and produced by G-Unit Film & Television, this project carries on Hulu’s tradition of music-driven storytelling. What began as a simple wink online now appears to be a calculated strategy.
