Ramsey, the former captain of Wales, announces his retirement at the age of 35
Aaron Ramsey, the former captain of Wales, declared his retirement from professional soccer at the age of 35 on Tuesday.
Ramsey made his debut for Cardiff City in the league. One in 2006 before moving on to play for clubs such as Arsenal, Juventus, and Nice. He went back to Cardiff for a second period from 2023 to 2025.
His final appearance was for Mexican team Pumas UNAM, who ended his contract last year.
“Making this decision has not been simple,” Ramsey stated in a statement. “After much thought, I have chosen to retire from football.”
Ramsey earned 86 caps for Wales after making his international debut in 2008, scoring 21 goals. “It has been my privilege to wear the Welsh shirt and experience so many incredible moments in it.” “It wouldn’t have been achievable without the remarkable contributions of all the managers I’ve worked with and the support from the staff who have assisted me in numerous ways,” he stated.
Wales did not secure a spot in this year’s World Cup.
