Iranian drones attack government buildings, power plants, and oil facilities in Kuwait

Iranian drones attack government buildings, power stations, and the Kuwait oil complex, causing damage, fires, and increased regional security tensions.

As regional tensions continue to rise, a series of drone and missile assaults ascribed to Iran has targeted vital infrastructure throughout Kuwait, including government buildings, power plants, and oil installations.

A drone attack caused a fire at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s oil sector facility in Kuwait City’s Shuwaikh neighborhood. The corporation’s headquarters and the oil ministry are located in the same building. Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported, and emergency reaction teams were sent out right once to suppress the fire.

According to state media, a government office complex connected to the Ministry of Finance was struck by another drone strike, which resulted in considerable material damage but no casualties.

The Kuwaiti military reported earlier that several incoming missiles and drones were successfully intercepted over the nation’s airspace by its air defense systems. While interception activities were underway, explosions could be heard throughout the capital.

The Kuwaiti Army’s General Staff stated it had “intercepted hostile missile and drone attacks” and urged citizens to follow official safety instructions in a statement published by the state news agency KUNA. The military also disclosed that they had thwarted similar assaults the night before.

The most recent attacks represent a larger trend aimed at the Gulf state’s vital assets. Drones attacked the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, one of the biggest refining plants in the nation, on Friday, setting many operating units on fire.

According to the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, the attackers also targeted two power generation and water desalination plants. Despite the absence of reported injuries, the damage was significant.

The strikes highlight the Gulf’s growing instability as nations there continue to be threatened by drones and missiles in the midst of a continuous struggle involving Iran, the US, and Israel.
