Jonathan Majors and JC Kilcoyne Plummet Through Unsecured Window on Film Set

After a stunt accident in South Carolina, production safety is under scrutiny.

Last week, an incident on the set of Jonathan Majors’ latest action film took a concerning turn when both Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne fell six feet to the ground.

The duo collapsed after a window on the South Carolina set failed, an event that has now emerged as a key issue for crew members who are currently on strike.

The incident occurred after the production team substituted a standard window with a sheet of tempered glass, which was meant to be broken during a different, subsequent stunt. The glass, inadequately secured in the frame, could not withstand the weight of the actors, resulting in both men plummeting to the concrete below. Representatives for Kilcoyne have indicated that he received prompt medical attention and is “doing well,” although reports from the set suggest that the actor needed stitches for several hand injuries.

The absence of communication about the accident caused considerable unease among those on set. An anonymous crew member who arrived shortly after the fall to reset the area characterized the atmosphere as misleading. “Upon my arrival, no one brought up the topic of individuals falling from the window,” they remarked. “It felt strange to me.”

This incident marked a pivotal moment for a crew that had been voicing concerns regarding production standards for weeks. Despite producers dismissing the concerns raised by the striking union members, the video capturing the fall—showing the actors and the glass sheet plummeting to the ground—has led to significant scrutiny regarding the safety protocols on set.

The IATSE strike is currently underway, and the window accident stands as a crucial piece of evidence referenced by workers who contend that the production emphasized speed and cost-cutting at the expense of the fundamental safety of its performers and crew.
