Meagan Good Shares That Her Skincare Routine Took a Turn, Resulting in a “So Pale” Appearance Amidst Accusations of Bleaching from the Internet

The actress reports that a standard treatment took an unexpected turn, resulting in painful side effects and a wave of public criticism.

A simple skincare choice became a source of public confusion that Meagan Good claims she had to silently navigate as the internet formed its opinions.

During her appearance on “The Breakfast Club” on April 1, the actress reflected on the time when people mistakenly believed she had bleached her skin, when in fact she was coping with the consequences of a treatment that had gone awry. Good explained that she initially sought assistance for anti-aging, but an esthetician encouraged her to address her dark spots, despite her describing them as her “natural contour.”

I began using the product. I quickly noticed that I was feeling lighter, and she reassured me, ‘Don’t worry, just give it a few weeks.’ “All your color will come back,” Good said. “In just a few weeks, I find myself looking incredibly pale and somewhat unhinged.”

The situation intensified as she emerged at a New York premiere, with cameras highlighting the shift and rendering her appearance even more lackluster. As the photos spread, assumptions swiftly emerged in their wake.

“As a Black woman, I would never subject myself to that.” It truly saddened me to consider that young Black girls might believe I acted that way or that I have a dislike for myself,” she expressed. “I thought to myself, ‘Why would I suddenly decide to do that at 39 years old?’ That’s unbelievable.’”

Good expressed that the situation felt “so humiliating,” particularly since she had no immediate means to demonstrate what truly occurred.

“I was unable to take any action.” She remarked, “I felt like I looked crazy.” “‘I truly have to simply remain in this situation and acknowledge that others will believe I brought this pain upon myself.’”

She also disclosed that efforts to undo the damage initially exacerbated the situation, leading to further complications and emotional distress before another dermatologist later resolved the issue.

“My face was covered in open wounds.” “My face was completely discolored, and it was truly traumatizing,” she said, adding that another dermatologist later resolved the issue.

Now, she is sharing her story on her own terms, reclaiming the narrative that was never hers to begin with.
